About Us

Our Story

The North Douglas Neighborhood Association (NDNA) was organized as an Alaska nonprofit corporation in July 2001, and is recognized by the City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) as an official neighborhood association.  Since its inception, NDNA has primarily worked through various committees established to address specific projects and issues in our area.  These projects have included a proposed golf course at the end of  North Douglas Highway; a proposed ORV park off the lower end of Fish Creek Road; and a second crossing of Gastineau Channel linking the mainland to North Douglas Island.  NDNA has also commented on amendments to the CBJ Comprehensive Plan, in particular requesting that a specific area planning process for North Douglas be undertaken.

The Second Crossing Committee is the longest-standing of NDNA’s committees, having participated in the processes for developing a second crossing in 2005-2007 and again beginning in 2022 when the CBJ re-initiated studies of a potential crossing.  Public comments that the Committee prepared and submitted during these rounds of discussion about a second crossing can be found on this website.
